Rab Garment Technologist

Job Overview:

Due to continued expansion, we have an exciting opportunity for a talented and experienced Garment Technologist to join our Rab Technical team for our highly successful and fast moving outdoor brand.  Reporting to the Rab Technical Manager, you will bring your experience, skills and personal qualities to a committed and enthusiastic team.  You will work closely with the Design team to develop products and with our manufacturing partners and QC function in Asia to ensure accurate delivery.

Key responsibilities will include:

  •          Work with overseas factories to develop product through to production
  •          Assist with fit process and grading 
  •          Prepare and maintain accurate technical specifications 
  •          Work with factories to ensure Quality Standards are in place before start of production
  •          Make sure that our standards are delivered through manufacturing stages
  •          Carry out AQL and QC inspections
  •          Continually review product quality

To join us, you must have:

  •          Degree or equivalent in Fashion or Textiles
  •          In-depth knowledge of all aspects of product construction 
  •          Hands-on factory experience and knowledge of manufacturing
  •          Strong knowledge of the fitting process & grading
  •          Experience of reviewing test reports and good understanding of performance standards
  •          A full understanding of AQL inspections and reporting
  •          Efficient with excellent planning and organisational skills to manage the approval process with suppliers in line with the critical path
  •          Excellent communication skills 
  •          Highly enthusiastic, with a ‘can-do’ attitude 
  •          Very high attention to detail with the ability to accept and meet critical deadlines

It would be advantageous if you have:

  •          Previous experience of outdoor-wear and similar sector/industry is highly advantageous
  •          Experience working for a brand or retailer
  •          Ideally a personal interest in outdoor performance clothing
  •          Strong IT skills (e-mail, MS office)
  •          Resourceful and resilient

This is a full time, permanent role, although we may be able to consider part-time/flexible working for this position.  For the right applicant, we may be able to assist with relocation fees.
