Pattern Cutter - Rab

Job Overview:

 

For this new and exciting role, we’re looking to recruit an experienced Pattern Cutter to join our Garment Technology team.  Reporting to the Rab Technical Manager, the successful candidate will formulate patterns and blocks for key product categories within the Rab brand. 

The role has been created in order to transfer the control of pattern development in-house away from our Asian Supply Base.  Working with our team of GT’s and Designers you will create a suite of blocks which will form the basis of the majority of future styles.  

 

Key responsibilities will include:

 

Using our Gerber system to create patterns and blocks.

Creating first pattern templates from sketches/drawings.

Interpreting fit comments and translating into pattern amendments, ensuring final garment are as required.

Working closely with the in-house sample machinist or manufacturer to make up mock up's/proto samples.

Act as a link between the design and manufacturing stages.

Liaising with designers and garment tech/product developers providing creative input as required to ensure patterns are accurate and factory ready.

Offering constructive advice to resolve fit and production issues.

Prioritising effectively and ensuring patterns are complete within the timeframe required.

 

To join us, you must have:

 

At least 2 years’ experience in similar role. 

Experience of computerised pattern cutting software/Computer Aided Design.

Experience of Gerber pattern cutting technology.

Excellent pattern cutting skills, understanding of garment fit/construction and the ability to interpret Designer’s drawings.

Excellent knowledge of stitching and garment finishing and an eye for details, shape and proportion.

Good time management skills and ability to work in a fast paced environment and meet deadlines.

Possess good IT and numeracy skills for measurements and calculations along with good drawing skills (computer/hand).

 

It would be advantageous if you have:

Degree in fashion or textiles.

Qualifications in Pattern Cutting/Garment Technology.

An understanding of garment fit particular for product designed for active use and how that may affect the pattern, to allow for freedom of movement.

Previous experience of working within the Outdoor Sector specifically on outerwear.

This is a full time, permanent role, although we may be able to consider part-time working for this position.
