For this exciting new role we’re looking to recruit a talented and creative Equipment Designer on a full time, permanent basis at our Derbyshire Head Office.

As part of the Rab Design and Development teams, you will be accountable for creating designs to enhance the equipment product category within the outdoor industry.   You will design and develop innovative and technically advanced softgoods and equipment that meet the needs of our customers and end-users. 

Key responsibilities will include:

  •          Concept design work and development of concepts through prototyping to final agreed designs
  •          Colour palette input
  •          Presentation work for internal and external customers
  •          Communication with factories and external sampling teams to progress through the product development        process 
  •          Track a design schedule to ensure a timely completion following the predetermined product development calendar
  •          Source, specify and work with various suppliers as required
  •          Being aware of competitors, end user needs and ensuring products are fit for purpose

To join us, you must have:

  •          Relevant qualification in Industrial Design, or a related field
  •          Previous commercial product design / development experience
  •          Self-motivation with a can-do attitude
  •          Good organisational skills and attention to detail
  •          Good communication skills
  •          Strong computer skills (Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, MS Office, Solidworks)

It would be advantageous if you have:

  • Knowledge of best practices and competitive practices in the marketplace
  • Design experience within the Outdoor or Softgoods industry
  • An understanding / connection with the technical consumer
